Donna, Thank you for posting about Robin. I am so sorry to hear this, but glad she is on the mend. Prayers her heart heals. My brother was diagnosed with congestive heart failure years ago, and doctors were able to correct his heart; he no longer has that condition.

Robin, rest and heal, my friend. Much love and prayers you are better soon.

Congratulations, everyone: from winners to runners-up to the rest of the poets who poured their blood into their works.

I just have to say, I was very surprised to see that my poem slipped into the spot that it did (and I'm very grateful). This August contest boasted so many remarkable and diverse works of art that I was kept in a constant state of astonishment. I 100% agree with David Zeoli's comment below: the diversity of themes and styles and subject matters were an amazing and pleasant experience: no poem was like another.

Dear Poetry.com members. This is Robin Loving's (Lovingempath) sister. She is in the hospital. After a fall last Saturday, which resulted in surgery to repair a badly damaged tibia and fibula, she was further diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She is being looked after and will hopefully receive care instructions that will keep her with us for as long as possible. However, we would appreciate all of your prayers. Thank you and God's blessings.

oh my god. I was initially excited to see the results and I rushed over here to comment knowing Robin would be the first one to celebrate our friend Francelle and John’s win. Instead, I am deeply troubled and I am so sorry to hear the bad news.

Congratulations to all the winners from the bottom of my heart, but I will not be commenting on my favorite poems this month as all my thoughts are directed towards Robin and her family.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that Robin is an incredibly important and welcoming member of this community, and that we all wish her a quick and full recovery. She has been nothing but kind to everyone here; no misfortune should have befallen her and I am personally very saddened to hear this.

I feel you Je Woo. This was my first win here but despite that, my thoughts are just about Robin. I sincerely hope she'll fully regain her strength anytime soon.

I have this sneaky suspicion that nothing would delight Robin more than if we celebrated each other’s success, greeted with enthusiasm new poets, encouraged more and more people to write, and to form connections and friendships with others.

I’m willing to bet anyone that this is true, and I’m gonna to ask Robin herself when she gets back.

Sigh. I’m conflicted, friend. I agree with you wholeheartedly; but, I’m refraining more so because I feel it’s slightly self-aggrandizing sometimes when it’s just me posting “a favorites” list every month- as if my opinion is somehow “important” when I’ve yet to win. I started doing this to advocate for more people reading every entry really, it’s evolved into some mini-column…. And that makes it strangely inappropriate given the circumstances.

However, I still have my list and all of my thoughts/comment drafts still reserved on my notes document. So let’s compromise. I promise to come back and comment as I always do (on each entry as well) and we can celebrate with her together upon her return! But for now this news has taken any mood for celebration out of me, I’m sorry.

This is my first interaction with the poetry on this site. I read all of the poems. I was truly impressed by the talent I saw in these poems. So much depth of feeling and creativity. I wish I could have voted for more than one as there were may that were deserving of recognition. Thank you all.

One thing really stands out to me as I read through all of these entries. We all had the same objective “write a poem”. With that same objective, there are 150 COMPLETELY different themes and styles. It’s why poetry is my favorite art form. I’m grateful to have found this site.

This might be a really hard month to 'judge'. I think I've pinned every poem I've read so far, because each one is 'delivering'. Wow! This is a heavy process sometimes.

Is it possible to actually drown in a sea of emotions?

That is such a legit question. I almost suspect that it's rhetorical. Whew ...

Probably. But I think you have enough healing to do, so please don't add this. Prayers you are better soon.

I love the fact that, for me at least, I have a three-day weekend so that I can devote myself thoroughly to all these intriguing titles. Anyone else have a three-day weekend?

Are we not allowed to read the poems that are up there, the ones in the contest? Or do we have to wait until the contest is over to read them? Just curious.

Euphoria suddenly ran through my veins and instantly awaken my competitive side. I do hope my fellow poets here would draw more inpirations in such a cool activity.

      P.S.

Having a family of friends here is more inspiring than anything else I can imagine. And 'acronimous' shouldn't have awoken those 'competitive' feelings in me, because I'm a feisty competitor...especially among family members :). And I believe in you Franny and will always know you as a true poet and lifelong friend.
