Shadows

Shadows.

In the deep shadows of my mind, where my hurt resides and the darkness hides. I caravan to knock on the door of this pain.

With bold courage, I journey through past wounds that life has given me. I won't interfere with the fear I feel. Instead I steadfastly move toward the darkness. Gaining courage the closer I get.

As strength blossoms forth, fear takes its leave,
I see life's darkness differently.
The weight that once oppressed my soul,
Wasn't meant to shatter me, but to make me whole.

Like a buried seed, I find my way,
Through struggles and pain, as night turns to day.
With time and light, I'll rise and soar,
Blossoming into something more.

A very mature poem that expresses a willingness to deal with past pains directly rather than avoiding them. By doing so the narrator, unlike so many who have succumbed to the darkness of depression or worse, is able to see life’s darkness in a different light, so to speak, and achieve fullness, healing and happiness by means of this.

    Excellent work!
