Celestial Scene

Fragments of whispering light blanket the black velvet back-drop,

Providing a jeweled sky holding other worlds one is wise not to deny,

The moon's warm glow a reminder of the mysterious secrets we yearn to know,

A sojourn from here to there, within thin air, time taken for flight no more than the light,

A different plane, yet still the same, if an open door one should find, hold back the fear and free the mind,

A wonderful world this one we know, to the ones we don't what a great gift it would be to go.

About this poem

Inspired from an intense desire to know more about what is beyond our planet.

The following is from a note I wrote about this poem of yours (at the time I had to look up the data):

“As of September 2nd, 2023, there are 4,651 confirmed planets that exist outside of our solar system. It’s interesting to note that in 1998 “Discovery Magazine” was ecstatic that we had discovered 28 planets outside of our beloved solar system. That said, I fully sympathize with the mystical sense of awe that this poem ‘orbits’ around. It would be wonderful to see and explore these planets, and to know for certain if there is life on any of them (and I’m absolutely certain there is).”

Loved the imagery you used. Excellent piece and yes, it would be absolutely amazing to see these other planets! Of course, ours is an amazing one as well.
