Fertile void

I dug the grave
I piled the soil
And laid the fresh corpse of our beings in this hole
To feel whole

I didn't tell you with words
but let you smell the stench of the rotting flesh
The flesh that turned to bones
The heat is gone
As is the warmth that bonded us

I used the warmth to burn it
I scorched it
And now it lays with the remains of who I used to be

I burned our love to set alight my soul

About this poem

After a messy breakup, immaturity can lead to mistakes and hurt. This poem is a reflection upon the way that this breakup unfolded. The decisions I made and a look at why. Trying to understand what has happened. That leaving was the only way to become human but to leave I made decisions I regret.
