I Wonder

                              I WONDER

The blink between oblivion and eternity
Is where we all find ourselves now
We are all fairly certain we "are" here
But none of us really know how

As to our reason for being
Now that's a real cause for concern
We are taught we must follow the right path
Or in Hell's fire we burn

I wonder what is the right path?
Many answers are proffered
By pundits who claim the knowledge
Of the true meaning of Gods' word

Rivers of ink across paper
Have flowed over eons of time
Describing the right path to follow
For you to discover in your mind
But given the same information
For each of us to perceive
Our conclusions alike as snowflakes
So whose version should we believe?

We bring in nothing with us
Yet we leave everything behind
As light filters in from the exit
The questions still churn in our mind

Our common destination
Much envisioned, yet unseen
Will remain a lifelong conundrum
Till we reach the end of our dreams
