Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth.

the badge...

without expectations
of anything in return.
I’ve opened up my heart...

While one, mirrors the fantasies of soul,
the other seeks reality, to find.
If trying to find Prince among the toads,
perhaps a woman dreams her life...

No One is Home

Again, I hear upon my door it’s knocking.
Though faint, I still can recognize the sound.
This time, no chance that I will be unlocking.
Stand still, pretend that no one’s to be found.
The last time to this stranger opened door.
It brought...

Is this Progress?

Technology’s labeled progression
for knowledge, it lets us explore.
Perhaps, name should change to regression,
for life was much better before.

We held no remotes in the hand.
No click of a button to make.
To change tv channel we’d...

This is a cleverly written metaphor of people we encounter in life. With perfect rhyme and rhythm,
it is a pleasure to read. Powerful moral at end.

It’s a difficult task to fully convey meaning within the constraints of a haiku. Well done.
