While We Sleep

As moonlight embraces the silence,
the rush of each day is forsaken.
Upon world, serenity sprinkles.
Our dreams from their slumber, awaken.

With eyes shuttered while we are sleeping
can see visions spark in the night.
So vivid are images captured.
A fantasy glitters, so bright.

For dream is like treasure chest buried
with deep rooted secrets that thrive.
Provides us a stage with a spotlight
where subconscious thoughts come alive.

With others can’t share our illusions.
No one can see images shown.
For we watch a private held viewing
of movie, to others unknown.

Soon dawn starts to peek in horizon,
as moon leaves with deepest regret.
Serenity makes its departure.
Then plot of our dream, we forget.

Birds gather, start playing their music.
Sky welcomes the morning’s new light.
Again, we start gathering wishes
to dream in the magic of night.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…
