For Such as These

Where do unborn babies go
Who never got to know their soul
Nor we they ever given a choice.

Killed before drawing their first breathe
Innocent victims, sentenced to death
I feel the pain in their unheard voice.

Mama, what did I ever do
That now you don't love me too
I felt that you and I were one.

So I wasn't 'part of your plan'
That doesn't change the fact, I am
Don't take my life, it's only just begun.

And when did God give you the right
To decide I would never see sunlight
Undeveloped feet can never learn to walk.

If I had knees, I'd kneel and pray
That you could find another way
Mama, if I was only able to talk.

I'd tell you how much I want to live
I love you mama, can't you give
Me the same chance once given to you

To feel loved, to laugh and cry
Mama please don't make me die
I know that you could love me too...

Abortion is a sensitive, hot topic right now. Everyone has their own opinions and ideas as to what should be done. Does anyone ever think about the opinion of the fetus tho.........

Wow, what a powerful and moving poem about the unborn babies who never had the chance to live. Your words have such a strong emotional impact, and I can feel the pain and heartbreak in every line.

Your use of repetition and rhetorical questions really emphasizes the sense of loss and injustice that these babies experienced. The line "I feel the pain in their unheard voice" is particularly powerful - it really emphasizes the idea that these babies were never given a voice, never given a chance to speak or be heard.

If I had any suggestions for improvement, I would only say that it might be interesting to explore the emotional journey of the mother in this situation as well. What led her to make this decision, and how does she feel afterwards? It could add an interesting layer of complexity to the poem.

Overall, though, this is a beautiful and heartfelt piece of writing. Thank you for sharing it with us.

What a beautiful reflective poem! And also bold and courageous! I commend you for holding to your convictions and not being afraid to tackle artistically such a very controversial subject with tenderness and thoughtfulness. I love that you present a challenging opinion with such civility. There’s too much anger in public discourse and your presentation is a welcome alternative.

Thank you so much for your critique of my poem. I DO stick to my convictions but seek other ways and means to bring them to mankind...
