Thimbles and Fairies

I lived life moment to moment
At times that distance seems so far
Yet it went by in the blink of an eye
A roller-coaster ride on a shooting star.

But this Peter Pan inside of me
Tells me adventure is still at hand
After all, I'm just a lost boy
Who had chosen the life of Neverland.

I found it once when I was young
In that place I kept my invisible friend
Oh the fun and times we shared
Living life like it knew no end.

As I got older I went less and less
Until I no longer could find the way
I had to adapt to the 'real' world
Family, bills, all work no play

Responsibilities and taking control
Helped me grow old and age
Every story must come to an end
And now I'm nearing the final page.

But don't expect to turn me into ash
Or plant me somewhere in the land
Just sprinkle me with 'pixie dust'
I'm flying back home to Neverland...
