Well at least they are offering a monetary award this year for the prize. I had to suggest a plaque with the poem of the year on it so I could receive recognition for last years contest. No money was ever offered...I got the plaque about two months later...Congratulations to this years winner, good luck to all... more »

I figured I'd put a comment here since nobody else will. Good try, keep at it, someday you may possibly receive a runner up coffee cup, or even a miraculous win.

Correct, this poem was meant for others who have lost a loved one, to let them know they are not alone in their tragedies. I love the fact that I am able to make you feel it was real!!

Now THAT, I can believe...and as far as 'what I desired' you got that wrong. I only desire to write the words that can bring forth others emotions...

Cute, is my first thought. This is a fun poem which our divisive world needs
more of. I could read it again, and again, and again...

I awoke this morning, washed my face and got a cup of coffee and my laptop. Voting day was here. I spend the next 3 hours reading all the submissions. Then I pin the ones that tickle my fancy so I may reread them. I chose Mother's Day because the poet did such a marvelous job of portraying and lifting up his mother and all the good fascists of her personalities, The poem had a good flow and rhyme and left me thinking, what a nice job this poet has done... more »

Fli, first, good morning as I sit here with my coffee and read your poem. Poetry and coffee go well together, and your words flow through my mind as easily as the coffee flows down my throat.
