Words are absolutely amazing, divine realities! It is a privilege every time I can engage words and communicate with others - life, love and dreams.

Sobriety

Another late night draws to a close for a delinquent
Rebel, confronted by the rumors of a pregnant dawn
That gilds the eastern sky, while a languid moon hovers
Above the lazy river and the looming palisades beyond

Cool dew sweet air chills...

A Pleasant Memory

A cloud of cigarette smoke
gently kisses wintered air
caressing my thoughts
as I remember her, forever

in blue jeans, ski jacket and tartan scarf,
dusky locks, escaping a brilliantly delightful
Bolivian wool hat, framing her...

Enlightenment

Each night ends the same way, as my starry eyes stare
Into the morning sun, searching for answers in its searing
Glare, defiantly brushing aside the flaming ribbons, past
Rays of blinding shafts and plunging deep beneath its skin
Undulating...

The dark of night pressed in on my soul, chilling me to the bone.
Seized by fear, I was overcome and in rage I barked, “I am not!”
“You were one of his disciples,” but my sunken heart was a stone.
The dark of night pressed in on my soul, chilling...

Haven’t we met before?”

“You mean you don’t recall,” with a smile
He asked her, “A distant night, years ago, when
The city was still filled with moonlight dreams?
Oh, I remember. Those nights were narcotic.
When I would be swept under the carpets,
Drunken, in a bed...

This poem about martyrdom and the early Church is beautiful and brimming with humanity even as our hero suffers for her love of God and His Divinity.

What a beautiful reflective poem! And also bold and courageous! I commend you for holding to your convictions and not being afraid to tackle artistically such a very controversial subject with tenderness and thoughtfulness. I love that you present a challenging opinion with such civility. There’s too much anger in public discourse and your presentation is a welcome alternative.

Thank you for your beautiful poem. It’s honest but please don’t go anywhere. Our spans are too short, treasure the time you have, the good days and the bad ones. Write the bad ones away. Keep your head above water and let poetry keep you afloat. You are an unrepeatable unique voice in this vast universe, use that voice and sing your life. Many of us write to sort things out, to cry out, but also to celebrate. Keep writing and sharing and no that you are never alone. There are others feeling like you and who understand you. Poetry reminds me of that solidarity. Thank you for being so courageous to share your heart. That’s the beauty of poetry! Welcome AY, I look forward to reading many more of your poems.
