SCREAM

I scream.
It is loud and long
It is wretched and strong
It is dark and I am wracked with pain
No one comes running do my aid
Is it possible that no one heard
Or is that no one cares

I scream louder
My lungs burn with the strain
The room vibrates from the sound
I hear no footsteps approach
I hear no bang on the door

I scream again and again
My eyes darting to and fro
Then I see myself in the mirror
Hanging on my bedroom wall
I scream louder still but my mouth never opens
The screams are in my head
The pain is in my heart

My family does not know
My family cannot understand
They will not know
So I will scream inside until I am dead

This is extremely creative. I never even saw your cortex move. You're a hell of a good writer, Nicole. I think these are actual struggles many of us live. As we all know, it is referred to as "living a life of quiet desperation." I believe we are all prone to it at some point in our journeys.

Thank you for sharing your talent. This was a great read.

If a tree in a forest falls and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? Your words are like that tree, giving of its bounty to others, and not being heard or recognized; yet registering timorously with empathy to those who receive its message. A poem that needs to be listened to with much reflection.

This personal experience touches something universal. That knowledge that we are each ultimately alone with our inner screams and sorrows. Thank you for giving it words.

I'm not sure of I interpreted this the way you intended, but this hit me to the core. Personal. Relatable. Raw.

Keep writing... you can express in a way that grasped me from the beginning.
    Great piece.
