The Anniversary

The Anniversary

It’s your anniversary, no celebration though
This kind has no music, laughter or glow

It is unbelievably, now year number four
They no longer differ, that much anymore

Numerous are the days, since you left
Cancer has indeed committed, the greatest theft

The loss of you, is tough to bear
In my mind still, your voice I hear

Some days the sadness, becomes a cloak
Emotions are raw and bottled up, they choke

Pain fills my heart, blocking the light
Choosing joy is a constant, tiresome, fight

The tears still flow, more often than not
This wound is deep, the sorest spot

Life’s colors seem, much paler somehow
Everything is so incredibly, different now

The hurt is so distinct, always new
My love for you, still deep and true

Life without you, is far from the best
Each day filled, with hours of unrest

God You took him, only You know why
Strengthen us, until we reunite on high.
