Ode to Woman

In my world, you are the Queen,
and I a mere mortal thing.
And when you walk, sheer pageantry.
That rare event, that each blade of grass stretches to see, happily.

Your heat makes the flowers sway away from the angry
Just to behold such a thing.

But, if I was a King,
Giving would be simplicity.
And, you could not dream of all the presents I would bring.
Materialistic, not important, mere monetary play things.

Yet, if I was a heavenly being,
Amazingly, amidst the pleasures I would be seeing.
I would pause to ask the Angels to sing to thee,
heavenly, with harp in hand, in three part harmony.

Perfect is no man was to be alone.
I am glad you had to heed my Father's call.
From your birth to fully grown,
I appreciate you all.

And even those I never met,
You all are heaven sent.
You will always be a part of me.
From the start, and how we have begun,
This poem is for all women.

But, I am one man now talking to one woman.
All the things I do for you,
Not because I have to,
But just to see your face brighten with a laugh or smile.
As we dance the night in style or even walk awhile.
If God is merciful and blesses our union, our life,
Then I will write a new poem, "Ode to Wife."
