Analysis of Overwhelmed to no End

Overwhelmed to no End

I get sick on bus rides
I stay awake until I cry

I look outside
I can’t see the horizon this time

Maybe the sun set or maybe it’s gone
Maybe I’m okay, or maybe I’m wrong

Heart it breaks right in two
I don’t know what to do

Stomach rumbles high and low
Pushing forward, but where should I go

I left you there all alone
And yet here you are, please watch your tone

When you speak like that
When you speak like that

I know I messed up, I can see
I'm sorry I let you be

Homework drowns me like a flood
But there’s no excuse of how I have shut

You out of my mind and out of my head
I think about you when I go to bed

I think about all that we had
I don’t understand sis, why you aren’t mad

I hear your whispers and I hear your cries
I’m sorry I’m the one who left this time

Losing my sanity over you
Pushing forward and then I pull back through

Confused every day
Don’t know what to say

When you speak like that
When you speak like that

Im losing my friends
And I’m losing it all

I try to believe but I fall
I try to trust in God above

But it’s hard when I think of our love
Im sorry I left you, I didn’t mean to shove

You out but here I stand
With my shaking hands

Im sorry I forgot you
Im sorry I stopped caring

I know you hurt when I see you glaring
When I see your nostrils flaring

I fall apart when I close my eyes
If I fell I dreamt I’d flied

When I see the trees I hear the ocean breeze
When I run away I try to silence my wheeze

I know I haven’t tried
Yet you’ve always been right by my side

I want you to know this time
I won’t choose to leave you behind

I see those tears as they fall
I know I act like I don’t care at all

But I swear I do
I try my best to push through

I try my hardest to understand you
But I can’t read these social cues

I hide away under the dark after day
I imagine myself in a better place where I’m understood

A place where I wondered if I could
But when I see the state of this friendship we have

I know it’s beyond repair
But if you ever need it I’ll be right there

I know I can’t undo all that I’ve done
I know I can’t change what I’ve become

But I want you to know I would do anything for you
I know we’re so distant, but we can push on through

We are best friends for a reason
Trust me when I say this discomfort is only for a season

So if you fall, I’ll pick you up
And if you get lost I’ll show you the way

I hope you know
I love you

About this poem

A poem I wrote for my friend. The intro is just my thought process before it turned to what I really wanted to say.
