Silently Numb

I woke up in the morning,
And she was there.
Beautiful brown eyes,
And long brown hair.

How could she be smiling,
And her eyes not red.
I was very surprised,
That she was not dead.

I don’t understand why,
She is attracted to me.

Detour

Years on the journey,
Only to arrive at this.
The fire is no longer burning,
The stars were a reach and a miss.

My gun is full of notches,
And my mind is traumatized.
Memories are only blotches,
Of an empty stare at the skies.

My future...

Previous Employer

They claimed to be a friend,
That would stand by me to the end,
And reminded me over and over.

I resisted their conditioning,
And fought off their soliciting,
To evade the mental takeover.

I am sure it was intimidation,
That created the...

Give Me Something to Believe In

When a lie becomes acceptable,
And an insult is okay.
When drama is assumed to be passion,
And authenticity is in decay.

When caring is no longer important,
And relationships are pushed aside.
When compassion is a weakness,
And there is no...

An Evening to Remember

I set silently on the beach,
And watch the setting sun.
Falling deep into thought,
Of things that I have done.

A most vivid memory,
Of that one spring day.
When I was lying in a shade,
After my curiosity, led me astray.

The trees were...

I like this one. Good piece of work. I often wonder how many people, who have convinced themselves that they are doing God's work, are going to be standing at the gates of hell wondering what happened.

Oh my goodness. I cant pretend to feel what you felt and what you are feeling but what you expressed in your writing certainly allowed one to get close. I wish you would not have had to go through that loss.

Every scar has a story and has a contribution to who we are. Some more than others. Thanks for sharing those feelings. They sparked some reminiscing about some of my own.

I can really relate to this. We just bought a house and were moving all of our things. I was forever finding notes in drawers, boxes, and coat pockets of where I had a thought and wrote it down so I could expand on it later.

Wow! This is a great community. This was my first time entering a piece of work and I really enjoyed reading all of the other entries. My poem didn't win nor did the poem I voted for, yet I still feel like a winner in being surrounded by you all.
