Lady in Christmas Red

Victoria Lamphear 1968 (TN)

As I stand outside smoking a late night cigarette
I glance at the neighbors house
I see a Shadowy figure
My eyes adjust with the night light
It is a lady in Christmas red
A dress of red with white fluffy trim
Just standing at the door
As if to be asked in
I wait anxiously
For movement
None was made
A car's lights reflect
The lady in Christmas red is gone
I wait for the eyes to adjust to the night light again
No lady in red is seen again

Victoria Lamphear

Not new to poetry but taken a break and have enjoyed life, I have entered a creative writing course and it has renewed my passion. Writing poetry and short stories have been my thing for as long as I can remember. Fiction and non-fiction. I have experienced some ghostly experiences in my life and will share them with you in poetry. Hope you all are mouths and eyes wide opened! Victoria more…

My neighbor was surprised about the lady in red. She said her mother would dress for Christmas in red and white. It was actually around Christmas time when this was seen. She is a 73 year old lady that does believe that things exists and will tell me of things that has happened here in the holler of Tennessee, especially, the war ghostly appearances. Hope you all enjoy my life experiences. On to the next.
