War on this land

Mist in the night flowing
Calmness is untouched
Shadows appear
is it only an illusion
Screams in the night air
Coyote, fox, or owl
Vision are altered
What lurks afar
quietness abloom
darkness stays
eyes darting trying to see
Nothing is moving
A touch
A touch on the skin
Not bug or cobweb
A whisper
A whisper of a voice
Crying in the air
Help is exclaimed
Still nothing in sight
Gunfire bursting in the distance
yet, nothing is for certain
Screams of agony
Searching for something
No visual in sight
War was once here
Finding sergeant tags
Seeing men falling in the distance
Hearing the cries for help
Nothing to be done
Watch in pain
Seeing death over and over again
War was on this land

Victoria Lamphear

Not new to poetry but taken a break and have enjoyed life, I have entered a creative writing course and it has renewed my passion. Writing poetry and short stories have been my thing for as long as I can remember. Fiction and non-fiction. I have experienced some ghostly experiences in my life and will share them with you in poetry. Hope you all are mouths and eyes wide opened! Victoria more…

I live on land that was once fought on. Civil War was fought here in December 14, 1863, in Bean Station, TN. I will tell many a poems with the experiences that I have had in my poetry. Hope this is a good start.
