The only one.

As I watch the rise of the morning sun.
I sit here and think, am I the only one.
That awaits each day with loathing fear.
So surprised I have made it through another year.
The happiness has all turned to sad.
Oh how has it gotten so, so bad.

Now I sit and watch the afternoon rain.
Wondering how I will face this pain.
You gave it to me when I left this place.
The rain mixes with the tears on my face.

Watching the evening sun sink below.
I lay my streaked face on the pillow.
I gave up on trying to be strong.
Now I know I must just move along.
Passing through the locked gates alone.
For all your sins I must atone.
