Faking Into Goodbye

Faking into Goodbye:

I can fake most any smile,
Given the hour,
And the day,
I can monitor emotions,
By watching what I do,
And do not say,
I can make the world believe it,
That I am finally getting on,
But if they look into my eyes,
They'd know the show that I put on,
Cause In the middle of the night,
When the worlds asleep,
I let go,
I relinquish all my strength,
And let the tears flow,
It is easy to play alright,
In the presence of the sun,
But when it's night,
The sadness has won,
I can walk and talk to others like it's no thing,
Turn the radio up loud,
And let my voice ring,
I can go out to the parties,
The ones where people gather round,
But when there's no sound,
I cling unto my pillow like a lifeline,
I am jealous others have a dad,
And I don't have mine,
I can scream into the darkness,
Asking,
Why,
Why You,
But when the sun comes up I know just what to do.
I put on something stylish,
And I spray that smell,
That Paris Hilton cologne,
I know all to well,
And I play another person,
One that never felt a pain,
Never gone insane.
But when it's time to take the shirt off,
And the scents expired,
I am drained from playing characters,
For quite a while,
I give into the madness,
That has drove me off my ledge,
As I lay on the edge,
Of goodbye.

Dustin Atwood

My name is Dustin, I am 29 but it feels as if I am a lot older by due of wear and tear.I credit this, to the way I write.I discovered Poetry, when I was 16 in high school. It was a way for me, to put my emotions on paper and get then out of my head. Time went on, and I discovered that using poetry, was in a sense my release from this world. I have struggled with sexuality, loss, depression, anxiety, self doubt, you will find these things in my writing.I like to think my writing is my souls dialogue. It is a voice that maybe the outside me, would never have the courage to say.It is things that have happened that many don't know, a sort of secret side of me. I hope you enjoy! more…
