Blind Glass

This is dedicated to the weakest of us all, the homeless.

She's talking to her bird
Who's perched upon her shoulder
Where angels pray for the dead
Lives with her broken heart
Breathes wind that's growing colder
Watch her soul fade instead

Just throw the coins you fished from the fire
And then you'll see if they fall
Upon the number that sparks your desire
Maybe you'll see
A beautiful world
Maybe you'll be
The new birthday girl
Or you'll finally
Win the war
Finally
Find your silent roar

Rests a dreamless head
Upon an old hopscotch board
The children drew on the walk
It's a hard concrete bed
Lives fallen from the rains that poured
Blind tears that wash out the chalk

Just throw the coins you fished from the fire...

Dark light melting in tallow
and I know
It's hard to swallow
But the hands that rock the cradles
Light all the candles
And fill up the ladles
