Like Bullets

Like Bullets
By Robert T. Davenport

In the realm of language, where words take flight,
They possess a power, both dark and bright.
For words, my friend, are like bullets, you see,
Capable of causing wounds, both deep and free.

With every syllable, a bullet is fired,
A weapon of expression, to be admired.
They pierce through the armor of hearts and minds,
Leaving scars and imprints, of various kinds.

Some words are gentle, like a soft breeze,
Caressing the soul, putting it at ease.
But others, my friend, are sharp and cruel,
Like bullets unleashed, with intentions so cruel.

They penetrate the spirit, leaving wounds unseen,
Affecting the psyche, like a shattered dream.
Words can ignite wars, fuel hatred and strife,
Leaving devastation, tearing apart life.

But just as bullets can cause destruction and pain,
They can also be used to protect and sustain.
For words, my friend, can be a shield of defense,
A refuge of solace, a means to make amends.

They can inspire courage, ignite a fire within,
Empowering the weak, helping them to begin.
Words can heal wounds, mend broken hearts,
Offering solace, a fresh new start.

So, let us wield our words with utmost care,
For they hold a power, beyond compare.
Like bullets, they can harm or they can heal,
The choice is ours, to create wounds or seal.

Let us use our words as instruments of peace,
To uplift, to inspire, to make hatred cease.
For in this world, where bullets may fly,
Words can be the ammunition, to change, to defy.
