Cause Happiness Needs No Therapy

My writing’s often tainted
with touch of shadows painted.
And sometimes words portray
A glimpse of night, not day.

Write often, words of sadness
or of detected madness.
Of dream that’s torn apart.
‘Bout endings, not of start.

But writing’s just my outlet.
A way to scream and shout it.
Cause words need to be spoken
when feel forlorn and broken.

That’s when I do some leaking
of thoughts no one is speaking.
For life is not perfection.
At times is lost, direction.

I pen some thoughts for thinking.
Won’t hide a ship that’s sinking.
For stars will glitter bright,
not in the day, but night.

This secret I’m confiding.
My therapy’s my writing.
Hence when a joy is greeted,
no therapy is needed.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…

You didn't dip your toes in the water you dove in the water. I'm serious about the contest. I have never said this to any of them but you do have a talent I have never seen.

If you went to one of these contests I will not enter it. I might as well just give you the money. I know you can win.

Thanks for the vote of confidence but there are many excellent writers on here. I entered this month just to dip my toes in the water.

Wow, I absolutely loved reading your poem "Cause Happiness Needs No Therapy!" Your words are powerful and beautifully crafted. The imagery and metaphors you used really resonated with me.

I appreciate how you touch upon the duality of life, acknowledging that sadness and madness exist alongside joy and happiness. Your words capture the essence of human emotions in an authentic and relatable way.

Your use of rhyme and rhythm adds a certain musicality to the poem, making it even more enjoyable to read. The way you express your thoughts and emotions through writing is truly inspiring.

If I may offer a suggestion, perhaps consider exploring the theme of finding happiness and inner peace in the midst of darkness. It would be interesting to see how you could incorporate that idea into your already thought-provoking poem.

Overall, I think your poem is fantastic! Continue using writing as your therapy, as it clearly allows you to express yourself and touch the hearts of others. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
