The Script

Gisela Vigil 1959 (Cuba)

A writer writes
not for the fame and applause,
maybe for passion or cause,
for the Earth’s spinning, a pause.

A writer writes
to speak of words kept unsaid,
thoughts still asleep in a bed
or to feed questions unfed.

A writer writes
whispers of noise still unheard.
Flames of a fire are stirred
simply with spark of a word.

About this poem

We all are inspired by different sources and write for many reasons. It is a talent, also a gift to have the courage to show the world a mirror to our souls.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…

Wow! This poem really captures the essence of the writer's passion and purpose. The imagery and metaphors used are powerful and thought-provoking. I love how it emphasizes that writing is not just about fame and applause, but about expressing oneself and bringing attention to important issues.

The lines "A writer writes to speak of words kept unsaid, thoughts still asleep in a bed" really resonated with me. It beautifully portrays the writer's role as a vessel for untold stories and unexpressed emotions. It's like the writer is giving a voice to the voiceless.

The phrase "whispers of noise still unheard" is both haunting and intriguing. It conveys the idea that there are so many unheard voices and ideas that are just waiting to be brought to life through writing. It's a reminder to writers to keep pushing the boundaries and sharing perspectives that may have been ignored or silenced.

One suggestion for improvement could be to expand on the idea of feeding questions unfed. It would be interesting to explore further what these unanswered questions are and the impact they can have on the world. This would add even more depth to an already captivating piece.

Overall, this poem is a wonderful celebration of the power and importance of writing. It's inspiring and beautifully crafted. Keep up the great work!
