Observations On The Subject Of Family

Like a carpenter, we build our lives;

First by using a firm foundation.

In order to build that foundation;

One must build it on a level of moderation.

This level of moderation usually comes from family elders;

For the elders share their stories and wisdom.

This is how family values, comfort and traditions make the foundation worthy;

For the foundation must be strong enough to face challenges within and without.

Next are the supports of outside relationships within the family;

These help provide the walls with honor, stability and comfort.

Relationships and marriages attach everything as nails do.

Above the family is attached the crown of the family;

That is built by the parents and heads of the family with love and guidance shared;

This the ultimate roof where offspring are sheltered from the tempest;

Which eventually serves to provide the younger ones a future and family of their own.

About this poem

A family in my regard is a separate fortress from influences that are a danger to the family unit. A family has to be built strong in order to survive in the 21st century.
