Cupid

Cupid

Between fantasy and entropy
Another world slips into view
And I’d hold that space forever
For the chance to be with you.

But Cupid only pierces hearts
He never tries to mend them
He laughs as star-crossed lovers fall
Victim to his mayhem.

A provocative muse, you come calling
But his bow is drawn, aim does not waiver
He’s no regard for my certain falling
Despite attempts to curry favor.

From this side still, I do observe you
Bursting to scream, to amplify
Breathless, weightless, reckless, lifeless
My ravaged heart now vilifies.

Because Cupid only pierces hearts
He never tries to mend them
As mortally wounded lovers
Spiral down into his mayhem.

Hi there Gina, to be honest your poem made me see Cupid in a different perspective. I admire how your words suddenly toppled my point of view but in such an artistic good way. Looking forward to read more of your works. :)
