I'm a hopeless romantic who attempts to write when inspiration strikes or life stirs my soul.. Born on the East Coast, now living in the PNW, I'm a Realtor by day and would-be poet by night. A reader, wine lover and foodie, I enjoy this space for creative outlet

Absence

Absence

Your absence is silence
that screams to be heard
like re-reading a sentence
but not grasping one word.

The blandness of white
needing a splash of blue or green
like observing a masterpiece
and it remaining unseen.

Missing...

Reality From Vision

I could lie awake for hours just imagining your face
And will with all my might for a different time and place
Bail this tortured heart out of its own prison
Make a break, go for broke, create reality from vision.

You could sit beside me...

March 4th

March 4

Here it comes again
This wave of grief to pull me under
A scream from deep within my bones
Raw and loud, eclipsing thunder.

As darker storm clouds gather
I can’t even speak your name
You’re stuck and burning in my throat
I...

If I Follow

If I Follow

If I follow you, will you remember me,
when the road starts to curve and there’s nothing left to see?

If I loved you, would you burry me,
after you and I have run our course and there’s nothing left of we?

If I surrender to...

Cupid

Cupid

Between fantasy and entropy
Another world slips into view
And I’d hold that space forever
For the chance to be with you.

But Cupid only pierces hearts
He never tries to mend them
He laughs as star-crossed lovers fall
Victim to his...

Love how raw and on point this is. If indeed you are only 14 - or even if not!- the theme and observations expressed in this piece definitely convey someone wide beyond their years while still balancing healthy cynicism with the hope and joy that a free spirit and poet possesses.

Fantastic combination of lyrical, whimsical, vivid imagery and concrete theme. Oh the ebb and flow of relationships and the often slow but unmistakable descent into destructiveness….but face toward the sun often survival and rebirth. I really enjoyed this. We’ll done, thank you for sharing!

Spectacular composition, cadence and imagery. Haunting and lyrical, this piece coaxes the reader into a spiraling descent of beautiful yet crushing madness.

As I was waiting for for my coffee to brew this drizzly morning, I opened my email and was shocked to see the notification that Absence earned first place in this month’s contest. I am humbled and touched that it spoke to so many of you and am grateful to be part of this talented community. Thank you all and keep writing!

I continued to come back to your poem as I whittled down my pinned poems to select my top choice. I love the structure and imagery here. There's an ethereally, whimsical quality to your piece that simultaneously conveys a sense of deep longing, angst and dogged determination. I felt like I was floating in a dream and awoke feeling the remnants of a lingering spell that had been cast. Thank you for sharing and keep writing!

Elegant and sophisticated, the poet carefully crafted a piece that is at once subtle yet powerful, nostalgic and rueful, yet simultaneously joyous and full of optimism. A lovely tribute that stays with you. Well done!
