Quietly the lilac scent,
the ripple of the pond
touch an invisible chord of my heart,
and I inhale
silence-- deep, unspoiled.
Time stands still.

And like the Monarch-
thousand miles in flight,
from North does it depart,
so does my long-distance run
come to a stall, no sign, no moan.
I lay me down, stilled within
and wait for dawn.
