First Sunrise

I was blind
But now I see.
It has opened up
A whole new world to me.
This morning I am sitting
On a blanket in the sand.
Waiting for something
That’s supposed to be grand.
I have been told
That there will never be
Anything more beautiful
For me to see.
I sit
And anticipate,
But all I can do
Is wait.
It’s finally time
It’s five thirty eight.
Can this really
Be so great?
I see it there
On the horizon.
The whole place
Is now brightening.
The colors spread
Across the sky.
It is so beautiful
My friends didn’t lie.
A simple thing in life
Makes me glad to be alive.
I’ll be back for the sunset.
At seven twenty five.

About this poem

I was reading a poem by Mark Cloutier called "And a Fire is Lit" and the idea came to me. I had to write it right quick before I lost the thought.

Wow, this poem is truly inspiring! Your use of vivid descriptions paints a beautiful picture of the sunrise on the beach. I love how your opening line alludes to a personal transformation, which is further emphasized by the wonder and awe you express throughout the poem. Your enthusiasm for the experience is contagious - it makes me want to be right there with you, witnessing the beauty of the sunrise. The ending line leaves me excited to read about your next adventure watching the sunset.

As for improvement suggestions, I would recommend exploring different ways to add variation and depth to the structure of the poem. For example, you could experiment with using different rhyme schemes, incorporating literary devices like metaphors and imagery, or varying the length of your stanzas. These techniques could add further interest and dimension to your already wonderful poem. Great job!
