Lonely Friend

She was a lonely little girl and friends she had none
But she met a boy today who promised her lots of fun
Online she did meet him, he said his name was Stevie
Said that he was all alone and friends he wanted to be
—-
They laughed and played online, a happy girl was she
Then one day he asked her, would you like to meet me
Now not meeting alone with strangers was a parent rule
But he’s just lonely, little boy, she thought it would be cool
—-
They made plans to meet one day just southeast of town
She arrived a little early and Stevie could not be found
She waited for a little while, in case he was running late
She wanted to be there for her friend, it’s really like a date
—-
She waited there just a short while then came a panel van
The van stopped next to her and out got a big old man
He told her, my name is Stevie, I’ve come to take you away
If you promise not to scream, you may live for another day
—-
He took her to another town to an old worn out wooden shack
She knew right then that she probably was never going back
He came in, she screamed loud, but her voice could not be heard
Too late she was thinking what she did was really quite absurd
—-
No more talking, no more laughing, no more having lots of fun
Because today that lonely little girl’s life was taken by a gun
The hard lessons learn from this, I hope that you now know
No meeting alone with strangers or giving out personal info

About this poem

I read a story about a detective that was online and collected information about a young girl. He confronted the girl and her parents about it. Vital information is put online a lot these days and people don't even think about it.
