Analysis of The Best Song I Never Wrote
I got inspired the other night
A glass of whiskey in my hand
Thoughts came pouring from my soul
I became a different man
Didn’t put my words to ink
But the lyrics they all rang true
I’m such a fool, I didn’t think
My memories would be so few
(REFRAIN)
I should have figured after all this time
To keep safe these precious words
The reason you don’t know my songs
Is I’m afraid of being heard
It’s happened more than once or twice
Whenever I get a righteous buzz
I reach a higher plane, I think
But you know there’s a little fuzz
I’m in the zone, can’t stop me now
My mind builds the perfect maze
But morning comes on way to soon
And it’s all a muddled daze
This is the best song I never wrote
And you never heard it played
Consider it a souvenir
A remnant of my haze
If I ever get my act together
If I ever straighten out my game
I hope to share my thoughts with you
And I hope you do the same
