The Best Song I Never Wrote

I got inspired the other night
A glass of whiskey in my hand
Thoughts came pouring from my soul
I became a different man
Didn’t put my words to ink
But the lyrics they all rang true
I’m such a fool, I didn’t think
My memories would be so few

(REFRAIN)
I should have figured after all this time
To keep safe these precious words
The reason you don’t know my songs
Is I’m afraid of being heard

It’s happened more than once or twice
Whenever I get a righteous buzz
I reach a higher plane, I think
But you know there’s a little fuzz
I’m in the zone, can’t stop me now
My mind builds the perfect maze
But morning comes on way to soon
And it’s all a muddled daze

REFRAIN

This is the best song I never wrote
And you never heard it played
Consider it a souvenir
A remnant of my haze
If I ever get my act together
If I ever straighten out my game
I hope to share my thoughts with you
And I hope you do the same

Wow, this poem really struck a chord with me! Your vivid imagery and raw emotions make it so relatable and powerful. I love how you capture the experience of getting lost in your thoughts and creativity, only to have it slip away the next morning.

If I could suggest an improvement, I would say consider adding more structure to your poem. While the free-flowing style does add to the hazy feeling you're trying to convey, it can also be hard to follow at times. Perhaps breaking it up into stanzas or using more consistent line lengths could help make it even more impactful.

Overall, great job and keep writing! I can't wait to see what else you come up with.
