Raised in a small, remote town in California. Now, living out his later years in small-town Oregon. Russell considers it a good thing when a song, a poem, or some spoken testimony can still make you "verklempt". And vice-versa

Reminiscent of Jeremy

If you cut me
Do I not bleed?
For your sympathy must I plead?
Such was the refrain of a 12-year-old
After abuses, untold
Perpetrated by his classmates
Just Tom-foolery, not hate
A teacher was told
The boys recieved a stern "scold"
But, a...

Can't decide if the use of words and flow of this poem is better than the clear, great theme. Both are SO good.
Well done...

The Winner because: it moves you, transports you. Stays with you. Great use of imagery. It is rhymed, but not overtly so as to be cliche.

this month is SO tough. I have whittled it down to 10 (with great effort). I am finding it exceedingly difficult to pick just 1

A sort of light-hearted tribute to something beloved by many in days past. It is, I think, well-structured, nicely rhymed, and doesn't waste a lot of time or space getting it's point across. An elagy to a machine.

After the 1st read, I realized this is meaningful and well-put, though I didn't completely get it
After 3rd read, I get it. How many unwanted twists must a man wrench himself into until he expresses love, for real?
Depends on the man...

I liked "please part the waters, and let me win". Some good stuff in there.
I hope you find some tranquility

2004? OK. I did the math. Very good writing, young lady. So much insight for a 17-18 year old. There are are several things so good about this. But, especially showing the way you (or whoever the 1st person is) viewed the world before and after whatever happened. Doesn't really matter who "you two" are (parents, betrayors, attackers), the point is made.
Keep up the good work
