The Choice

d*mn, they say life comes at you fast
You don't believe em? Just take a look at my past
It's like a reality T.V. show, with a crazy sinful cast
Full of thugs, breezys, rebellious kids, and I can't remember half
Of them but this song is about a specific instance
I remember everyone's face and name and I thought it was my last dance
Being free, it happened one night not unlike the rest
Tellin my mom I was goin out and tryin to pass her lie detector test
“Where you goin?” “Oh you know, just a friends place”
“Will there be drugs there?” “Nah mom, that's not the case”
But I was lyin through my teeth right? Flossin with this sin
And little did I know that this is where the dilemma would begin

I was goin to kick it  with some green and some homies
And this fly chick that hinted that she would prolly blow me
This was nothing new to me, that week had been a slooting spree

But when I got to the house, I felt something in my heart
An odd familiarity of longing began to start
This girl's personality was like a piece of modern art
So fresh, new, and clearly individualized
My thoughts towards her weren't the slightest bit sexualized
We had a great time, talkin bout the world like we knew it all
Reminiscing of the times where we found flight, stood proud and tall
We opened up our souls and they became intertwined
Everything felt so fresh, and felt so divine
That I didn't even think about the end of the night's timeline
She felt the same way bout me and was enjoyin the time
With the discussions we had, and the jokes and the laughs we had were prime

We were both sober when we found the bed
But once we hit the covers our thoughts of good intentions fled
We became drunk with lust and our clothes were quickly shed
To the floor along with every ounce of self-respect I had built
Up through the years for women that I had learned from my mama
That I had to show love, respect, and not to start drama
And every time I told her I fell into lust it gave her head trauma
But back to the night; we were so fully connected
It felt like my demon in the flesh had been fully resurrected

When we finished, a thought gushed through my mind
“Are you on birth control? If so, what kind?”
She said yes but that it didn't really matter
Cause' she had also take antis that wouldn't nullify my splatter
My heart sank like Romney's votes in this last election
I was so stupid, why did we not use protection?
My head was overflowing with all these desperate thoughts
It found all the stress inside and all the scary dark spots

That's when we started all the distressed prayers and talks
Cryin out what we gon do? We aren't fit to be mentors
Of a child right now, we'd mess that life's soul up like dementors
No matter what happened though, my values stood firm
“Sorry girl, but if we just made biology,
Then we're keeping this life; please accept my apology”
She said, “I feel the same way, but I have a simple request.
I want you to in an effort that should yield the best
Attempt to do everything right for this sitch
Even though we just met I don't want to fight
About this ‘cause its my body, my choice.”

And she's right. Or was she?
That topic of debate had always been unfamiliar and fuzzy
To me, as this was my first pregnancy scare
But this problems arises everywhere from P-town to Delaware
What's the right choice? Do we have it all figured out?
Is it even our place to decide who gets to make the final count?

On one side, we'd be killing off a beings future
On the other, we were surely protecting ours
Now don't get it confused, ‘cause life is never an accident
I'm just asking, “What would you do if you were in this predicament?”
So many people are selfish, and solely think of their goals
In life, while they disregard any cares for their seeds' future souls
If you claim to man, then lemme see the evidence
Actions speak louder than words and are worth more in life's eventful dance
But at the bottom of the page it's not up to us
While you may think we goin along in life like a tour bus
There a power in the sky that knows all and is the most high
He has all the answers and floor plans of life in fact this guy
Has had a million thoughts of different scenarios, just for you and I
So if you think that He doesn't have our best interest in mind
Then you are clearly misinformed and you're walking through life blind

So when people ask me which side of the fence I sit on
I just say child please don't get me gon
Those who are pro-life and those who are pro-choice
Think about what you're saying before you fight and make noise
I'm not pro-life; I'm in fact pro-choice
‘Cause I'm always for a woman who chooses Christ
Let God decide, don't let man interfere
He's too full of pride and too full of fear
And when man kills himself you know that God will shed tears
He is our savior, so give Him the reins
He will take away all your terrors, issues, and worldly pains

All you have to do is choose Him, and you will be born again.
