One moment

One moment

In this moment everything is frozen still
Everything around me, all the things I've worked for feel real
An unreal dream where fantasy meets reality
A time in need of a decision; it's glory or guts I spill

In this moment I feel the weight of gravity
My whole body shakes violently
Waiting for that one moment to pour out my heart so organized, yet recklessly
In this moment everything I've worked has been channeled into a brief instance
Where time stretches out farther, and so does the distance

My mind races faster than my heartbeat--which makes it a blur
I can't wait to explode!
No one beside me shall make me defer
For this brief moment we begin as equals
Until that gun goes off, and the magic of my work ethic begins to conjure
A combination of speed, form, and tenacity
It creates a storm on rubber; a hurricane of audacity

The smoke hits the air
The shot cracks the crisp silence
I lose everything; every thought, every care
Instinct takes over; civility succumbs to animalistic violence
I'm doing this for me, and the school crest that I wear

In this moment it's now or never
To leave it all on the table; it's all or nothing
In this moment it's sunny days or bad weather
In this moment I must put it all on the line
In this moment I must make everything I've worked for these last four years mine.

In this... One... Moment.
