Song of a child

Poem

SONG  OF  A  CHILD

K.R.BALAKRISHNAN

Uncle Moon in the sky sitting on an easy-chair
Beckons us to come near
He nurtures a wish to see us all
In the midst of his ecstatic life, there.

Yes , we should go,my friends
We should be there on his next breakfast time
Should we not take something from the earth
And give him as an unexpected gift ?

Mother said, he doesn't  eat any cake or fruit
No need of milk, as he bathes in the milky way daily
No honey, as he is immersed in honeylight always
No oil, no perfumes, no spices
Such things are  in abundance in his home-sky.

Then what should we take to our uncle moon
From this earth as a befitting gift ?
Yes , there is one thing ! our dear National Flag !
The flag which saved us from slavery
We shall take it, along with a piece of our beloved poetry.
