Thrilled earth

Poem

            THRILLED  EARTH

                                    K.R.BALAKRISHNAN

Tell me summer night!
While coming back from your temple of dusk
Is there a sacred flower or tulsi petal in your folded palm
To make the earth's  mind cool ?
Is there a bit of sandal paste in your palm
To make the earth's forehead cool ?
Is there with you any remnants of offerings to your deity
To make the earth blessed ?

Who has given today a harsh tune
To your heart's strings ?
Who has sowed a harsh song
In the downpours of your rapture ?

Come, spray the holy water as a torrential rain
All over the hot agitated mind;
Let the earth's  body lying vast and barren
Be thrilled at least this time!
