Pen Of Hope

I read a poem written by a little girl and she pulled me into my past
I wish I could wrap my arms around her giving her assurance the nightmare wouldn’t last

I heard the echo’s of yells and screams and the twisting of cap on the liquor bottle
Witnessed the blows to surrounding bodies then dark shadow down hall did waddle

I too tried to protect my siblings from witnessing all the darkness of our engulfing walls
Keeping faith and hold onto the hopes that one day someone would answer fears calls

Keep steady my friend in distance and when you feel that you’re all alone in this strife
Close your eyes speak to God above he is with you each day as well in frightening nights

Put pen to paper as you are doing and pour out all the pain that has sought you out
These lessons in life given by unworthy teachers know not what true love is about

If you ever need me just pull out your pen and I will see you between the lines
It’s the hard times and injustice in this world that often in bondage ourselves we find

Though my eyes have never seen the shape of your face or the curve of your hidden smile
If ever you need a friend my door to escape is always open stop in and rest with me for a while

This is dedicated to a young lady whose poems touched my heart. I just want her to know she's not alone, keep the pen flowing there is hope. Stay strong my young friend!

Maylinda Jane McRae

I haved live in Georgia all my life. I have four beautiful children and five grandchildren,an amazing man in my life named Scott. God has also blessed me with many loving family members and friends. God has blessed me in so many ways and I want to share with others how amazing he is and the grace that he wants to bestow on others. I have been writing since I was a little girl, it has always helped me to express myself whether it was during a storm or a victory in my life. My prayer is that my poems will help someone who may be going through a storm or celebrate a vicotry in life. more…
