Good Morning Lord

Good morning Lord my question is how did you sleep
I know that’s a silly question knowing You have such abounding peace

I counted I tossed flipped pillow and turned tangled in my covers
Wandering what morning will bring me when encountered with others

Will I say or do what you would approve and honesty in me want
Will I overlook criticism in words someone whose goal is to taunt

Will I freely give a smile to a soul that is inner-self in need
Will the eyes laid upon this vessel see You in the simple me

Will compassion and understanding be found in my existing spirit
Will love and sincerity of voice pouring out, will ears tuning in hear it

Will I blink or turn my head when the homeless in life’s shadows walk my way
Will I wish I had did or simply said something at the end of my busy day

When I pull to the stop light in my anxiousness waiting for my cue to go
Will I ignore the tarnished tin cup on the corner no hope for them will I show

I’ve heard that character is what we do when no one else is looking
Will I view blessing someone else’s life a gift or art of resentful working

Now I lay me down to sleep in search of renewing a tired soul
Will I wake to morning’s day of opportune blessings you give, ones in waiting untold

Maylinda Jane McRae

I haved live in Georgia all my life. I have four beautiful children and five grandchildren,an amazing man in my life named Scott. God has also blessed me with many loving family members and friends. God has blessed me in so many ways and I want to share with others how amazing he is and the grace that he wants to bestow on others. I have been writing since I was a little girl, it has always helped me to express myself whether it was during a storm or a victory in my life. My prayer is that my poems will help someone who may be going through a storm or celebrate a vicotry in life. more…
