Modern Ease

With none of strong bodies
the laborers, farmers and other sorts,
with no ingenious conceptions
these modern minds become distorted,
contorted in the simplicity,
cradled in the arms of certainty.
The forefathers, forbearers
shadow this existence,
for their future, these dull heads ignore
the insistence to grow,
and persistence dies in inactive hands,
crumbling at all demands.
We stand upon great shoulders,
but to what avail?
What is previous triumph worth
if darkness does prevail?
What assails this new race
is our willingness to fail,
when humanity plunged forward before
we deteriorate, our souls too frail.
