Cleft to Cling (Ode to Ian Sawicki)

He carved out poet's heart
for all the world to see
Crimson red bleeding
requiem amidst vain mediocrity
Auto-da-fe entreating
She dons black cap and veil
his poetry her greeting
her tanned skin now pale
Surely white knight
shrinks not to mourning light
Wordsmith death's sting
burnt bitten cleft to cling
Anchor, heart's harbor, cast me adrift
Seal all your sorrow, heal clean the rift
Look past small faces
Look past peaved green
Forgiveness erases
feigned passions unclean.
