Hedgerows of Normandy

Here form the hedgerows medieval. The shimmering leaves and bent trees.
Weighted with rats, who feast on bodies decayed, indifferent to their plight.
Fight like soldiers of wars, with shoulders stooped sad and misere,
Fight like howling hounds, with desperation that soars from their breasts.

Where once walked lovers, who lounged on blankets, full baskets of fruits.
Dancing delights, of whispered secrets in garments serene, that faded into night.
Love like mystics of old, with voices profound and sincere,
Love like children at play, with swift feet that skip and sweep emerald crests.
