The Reality Of Love

Love is not a real thing.
It never was.
It never will be.
Love is an excuse people use to be with someone they only intend to throw away.
Love doesnt last. Even if it was real.
Its temporary and conditional and make believe.
Then I found you.
You are beautiful and stubborn and capable of so many things.
So capable.
The perfect mix of beauty and bravery all wrapped inside of this intelligent and strong woman.
Like a gift.
A rare, special gift.
The kind of gift you didnt know you needed, until it was there.
And there you are.
And I need you.
I had no idea how badly.
Only a fool would lose a gift like this.
You're the thing people cherish, and hold on to.
You're not temporary.
You're not conditional.
You're not make believe.
You're the kind of person who creates belief in a world full of doubt.
The kind of person I could love in a world I feel love is impossible.
You challenge every definition I have of love.
You set fire to the word that died for me years ago.
I finally see love for what it is now.
Love is not a real thing.
But there is such a thing as real love.
It only happens one real time though so you cant blink.
In this real lifetime, with these real people.
Real mistakes.
Real love comes once.
The rest does not matter.
You are a powerful thing for me.
You change definitions for me.
You rewrite poems for me.
You separate my fiction from my reality and open my eyes to things.
Things I didnt even believe were true.
Because even if I tried not to, it would be impossible not to really love you.
