The Pawn

Lindsay Mayeux 1992 (United States of America)

Public figure
Associated with praise
Of something good for humanity
Pretty pictures painted
Pretty lies spewed
They look quite amazing
They sound quite enchanting
But once the truth comes
Trickling through
Like the sands of time
The inevitable end
This charade needs its closure
The curtains need to fall
So what's behind the scenes can unfold
Unrecognized
Unknown
This is where the pawn is cast away
For the audience's viewing pleasure
To enact this true
And final act
While the game master has his way
With a much more malicious plot
If only the spectators knew
They were the ones yet
Still being played

Although is quite terrible the spectator fate, the pawn metaphor is poetically very attractive, getting an image you put on here.

Beautiful piece full of irony! Didn't see that coming; the spectators being the ones played!! Keep writing...
