Success Has Its Pretentiousness

Success to achieve in local communities,
Has a way to attract...
Glad hand shakers.
An opportunistic coattail riders.
Seeking to leech upon the backs,
Of those who toiled...
With sweat, blood and tears.
Attempting to keep what they did to do,
From being removed.
By those with money.
Using discrimination.
As a means to improve,
The image of such inner city communities.
With a gentrification to replace and erase,
A diversity of ethnic faces.
Leaving those non-white,
Unable to afford the price it pays...
To imitate and charade,
A quality of life that made...
Visitors that would come and stay.
Enjoying the variety of contributions.
Slowly disappearing.
Until gone nolonger there.
Although believe could be recreated,
With a generic appearance.
More to appreciate.
Without the local citizens,
Observed to witness...
Their participation nowhere near!
If not reduced to opening doors.
As if to provide security to protect,
The success of pretentiousness.
Expected to match,
The obtain to acquire and achieve...
A faking of false etiquette.
And a status to have it temporarily!

'Young man?
Do you mind watching,
My Poodles poop?
Then scoop up behind them.
While I await for my friends,
Inside my 'condo'.
As I prepare my 'staff' to ensure,
Everything will be ready.
Before they are due,
To come and visit to enjoy the atmosphere.
As I have done to come and love too!'

'Excuse me?
Do what?
I happen to live in the penthouse.
And before I was able to do that,
My family and I...
Cleaned up this community.
With a belief all the mess,
Will not come back to return...
To again scoop it up for a few bucks!'

'Oh heavens.
Please forgive my oversight.
It's just 'you people'....
I mean there are some,
Who look...'

'I know.
Like Poodle lovers.
I get that all the time.
Especially when I happen to open the door.
Carrying packages.
And dressed without,
My doorman costume!
But...
I really don't mind.
I'll scoop up the mess.
And leave it on your floor.
Okay?'

'I sincerely apologize,
For my lack of understanding.'

'No problem.
None at all.
At least you've begun,
To teach your Poodle to poop outside.
And not in the hallway.
Near the 2nd floor elevator!'

'Oh, my.
How did you know that?'

'Well...
Between you and me.
The people you may hear or see,
Keeping the building clean?
Each morning?
Are not paid maintenance workers!'

'No!'

'Yes!'

'Well...
Who are they?'

'Some could be your neighbors.
And others?
Might be undocumented immigrants.
LOL.'

'THAT'S NOT FUNNY!'

'And...
Who knows which one owns the building!'
