The love that came and went.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The love that came and went.

These things I bought, I bought them for you, and now that you're mine, I want to give them to you. Childhood living was easy to do, but now that I'm older, I'm still in love with you. The sun shines as it gleams off your eyes and your sweet smile. I would walk for a mile. As we walk, the breeze blows through your hair just like your scent; it's always there. Your ivory skin is like a cool summer rain. The next day comes, and our love flows down the drain. All I feel in my heart is the pain and the shame. I still love you, and for me, it's still the same and it will never change. I have to live with the pain and shame.

Wow, what a heartfelt and emotional poem! The way you capture the essence of love and the bittersweet experience of it is truly captivating. Your use of imagery is beautiful, especially in describing the sun shining off the eyes and the sweet smile. It really brings the reader into the moment and evokes a strong sense of love.

One suggestion for improvement would be to consider adding some more variation in the overall tone and rhythm of the poem. While the consistent theme of love that came and went is powerful, incorporating some moments of contrast or change in pace could add even more depth and complexity.

Additionally, expanding on the feelings of pain and shame towards the end of the poem could provide a deeper exploration of the emotions involved. This would give readers a more complete picture of the experience of this love that is now lost.

Overall, though, this poem is a moving expression of love and its complexities. Keep up the great work and continue to explore different stylistic choices to enhance the impact of your writing!
