Love is Blind
In a world veiled in eternal night,
Lived a girl, her spirit a beacon bright.
Blind, yet with a heart brimming with glee,
Beside her, love stood, steadfast as the sea.
He, her anchor in the endless dark,
Promised to be her eternal spark.
"If only for once, the world I could see,
I'd give my hand to thee," she whispered tenderly.
Fate, in its mysterious weave,
Heard her sighs one quiet eve.
A surgeon's skill, a chance for sight,
To lift her from perpetual night.
Under careful hands, her world transformed,
To vibrant vistas, as her vision formed.
Nature's canvas, in splendid hue,
Unfurled before her, a dream come true.
Fields of gold, skies painted in twilight's blush,
Rivers gleaming like the dawn's first flush.
Each blossom, each leaf, in sun's embrace,
Danced before her, a newfound grace.
Yet, in her gaze, her lover's face to find,
She met a truth, unforeseen, unkind.
His world, untouched by light's caress,
Mirrored her past, in its sightless abyss.
Her heart, now adrift in a sea of sight,
Wavered, lost in newfound light.
"I yearn for one who shares my visual song,
In this world where I now belong."
With a soul torn, he stepped away,
Leaving a letter, his final say.
"Within these lines, my love's last gift,
A truth revealed, a fateful shift.
The eyes that grant you the world anew,
Were once mine, in a world so true.
In love, I chose a shadowed fate,
So you could marvel, at daybreak's gate."
Clasped in her hands, the letter shook,
His sacrifice, a forlorn look.
Her gift of sight, now a shroud of regret,
In her world of color, his silhouette.
Once a dream, now a poignant ache,
His love's cost, her heart's forsake.
In every shade, every beam of light,
Lingers the memory of his eternal night.
