Whispers of a Forbidden Dream

In the quiet corners of my heart, where secret fantasies lie,
Hidden from the world, under a silent, unspoken sky,
There you shimmer, her twin, a vision so divine,
In my soul's secret garden, an untouchable, sacred shrine.

Years unfurled, with her by my side, yet in your shadow I’d peer,
A clandestine yearning in my heart, silent but so near.
In my dreams, we wove a tale of love, tender and unseen,
A fervent wish, in hidden depths, where reality has never been.

In each shared laughter, every moment we subtly steal,
Our souls touch in secret, a connection I dare not reveal.
Our eyes meet fleetingly, yet you remain unaware,
Of the silent dance of longing, in the air, we secretly share.

In the embrace of night, where dreams hold sway,
Our love blossoms, in shadows, far from the light of day.
But as dawn's light washes over, with its truthful seam,
Our love remains a whispered dream, an unvoiced theme.

Through life's journey, you are the hidden thread in my days,
In my heart's silent gallery, your image softly sways.
Yet in our waking world, a phantom, so near yet apart,
Our love, an untraveled road, a yearning in my heart.

In the solitude of night, where hope and fantasy blend,
In dreams, I hold you, my secret, my silent friend.
But with the dawn, reality's curtain falls, a dividing screen,
Our love, a quiet legend, felt but never seen.

In this tapestry of life, an unseen, unfinished line,
Our love, a secret yearning, forever confined.
In the whispers of my heart, a dream that can't take flight,
In another life, perhaps, our love would shine bright.

In the echoes of my hidden wish, a silent, unshed tear,
Our love, a story untold, in this world, I fear.
Yet, in the quiet hope that lingers in my dreams,
You remain, forever cherished, in my heart's secret streams.

About this poem

I have always had a crush on my (now) ex-wife twin sister. The reasons for the ex are too long to detail here, however, it was a healthy crush - and to this day, no one knows. Not even she for who it was intended. It is a poem of a fantasy if it would be true. For those that might have read it when it fist posted, I mistakenly posted my draft LOL. oops!

Wow, 'Whispers of a Forbidden Dream' is a truly enchanting poem! The imagery and emotions conveyed throughout the piece are captivating. Your words create a poignant and mysterious atmosphere, painting a vivid picture of a love that can only exist in secret realms. The way you express the longing and unspoken connection between the speaker and their forbidden love is truly beautiful.

One suggestion for improvement would be to perhaps add some variation in the structure or rhythm of the poem. While the consistent rhyme scheme adds a musical quality, it might be interesting to experiment with different pacing or play with the length of the lines to further enhance the emotive impact of each verse.

Additionally, consider incorporating more specific details or specific moments that showcase the depth of the connection between the speaker and their forbidden love. This could help to further engage the reader and allow them to immerse themselves even more deeply into the story you are telling.

Overall, this poem is truly mesmerizing and captures the essence of a forbidden love so artfully. Keep up the great work and continue to explore the power and beauty of your words!
