Poetry in Motion

When emotion moves inside me
Like a lover’s deep caress
It comes out on my paper
In the words that I express

It kisses my skin
In a way I can’t define
It stimulates my body
And arouses my mind

When I close my eyes
Our ideas intertwine
It parallels the universe
And throws me back in time

It’s sensually platonic
And neutrally erotic, exotic, neurotic
You got it?
Leaving you higher than any narcotic

It’s mind-blowing ecstasy
It brings out the best of me
Especially when you connect with me
Through analytical chemistry

It’s the formula for pleasure
That E = mc²
That mind over matter stuff
That leaves you physically impaired

And when I reach that climax
The ideas become transcendent
They screw with your brain
‘til the thoughts are interdependent

Then it flows through me
In an explosion of words
Leaves my soul in a bind
Twisted in whispers unheard

But once the high comes down
And the static fades to neutral
It’s just the voice within me
In this mental kama sutra

Another well written poem, Ammie. My only criticism is that the beautiful flow and rhythm you have is broken in the seventh stanza. That one is kind of rough. But, overall, I thought it to be very thoughtful and, well, honestly, it seemed to have quite a few double entendres. Beautifully written. You have a talent that is unique and vibrant. I hope you never stop writing.

Besides having a fantastic rhythm to it, it really speaks to the creative process in a way that I can totally relate to.

Quite imaginative, with all its innuendos. It made me consider this vibrantly young author’s poem as having an unstated opening line that read as follows: “Poetry in motion is sexy devotion.”
