Heartfelt Emotions...

I have recently shared many of my words of rhyme here on Poetry.com,
They've told you of my testimony - and some even told you of my Mom.
As you've read - I was abused as a child - and even later as a grown man,
The Lord has helped me to share my story through poetry - in ways that I seldom can.
These poems that I've shared cover the last 60 years God's given me life,
If I told you I had lived on easy street - you know it's not the truth - for I've had my share of strife.
See sometimes in this life - we allow people to hurt us in ways we often refuse to see,
Yet the truth be told - we could've stopped them at any time - for God gave us the key.
I've learned that often times in this life we believe the bad things that hurtful people say,
But as we get older and wiser - we find the truth in God's way.
I've been blessed at times to be what people call rich - and I've slept under bridges - eating out of trash cans to survive,
I've come to appreciate the little things in this life - just thankful to be alive.
You see - money and people come and go - looks fade away - but personality is forever,
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure these things out - you just need to be more clever.
We will all make our share of mistakes - there's only been one perfect person to date,
Yet he willingly laid down His life as a sacrifice - so that He alone - could change our fate.
It's often said that you have to stand for something - or you'll fall for anything,
There's so much truth in that statement - it should make our minds and hearts sing.
The Lord never said as His followers that our lives would be easy - not even from birth,
He does say in His word that once the race has been run - our new life with Him will show it's own worth.
I was so unsure about sharing what I just recently was told is my personal testimony through poetry,
But the Lord put it on my heart that he could use them to help other people to be able see.
He reassured me that through all the words he has helped me to rhyme,
That he can save other people who are hurting - and give their lives more time.
My only wish is that the words he's given me may help another life not be so painful or hard to take,
All I know is that through my poetry I have found an artistic expression with words of truth - that are never fake.
I pray that the Lord will guide people to the words that he helped me to rhyme,
And that somehow through reading them - He will guide more hurting people like I was - to find Him in time.
